Pioneers

My version of the representatives of humanity on the plaques of the Pioneer 10 and 11 spacecrafts. I'm getting better at drawing faces, I think. I drew the woman first, mainly because I wanted to try my hand at drawing her hips. I then figured I'd draw the man as well, which basically wound up being Male Figure Study II.

I drew them a little differently than in the original, given the nominal purpose of the drawing: to introduce humanity to those who have never encountered us before. For example, I drew the woman's hair slicked back (to show more of her head, such as her ears) and with lines rather than outlining, so an alien beholder can get a better idea of what it is (than if it were depicted as a solid outline, as in the original).

Then again, if this were actually going to be used for that purpose— rather than being just me taking a shot at drawing these two figures, for its own sake— then I probably would have drawn a lot of it differently, or recomposed it entirely, such as in the manner of Vitruvian Man.

I might also have put forth the extra effort to re-draw the man's raised hand so it doesn't look too large. >_>
